Sunday, June 7 – Mountain Pass Climb (Luther Pass)
33 miles | 2,100’ of climbing | Average ascent grade: 5%
Our route will be undulating from Temple Bat Yam as we spin our legs toward Route 89. We’ll ride through neighborhood roads approaching the climb on South Upper Truckee Road, then ascend a quiet campground route that avoids most of the highway proper during the climb. At Luther Pass, we’ll stop for a group photo and enjoy the unique beauty of Grass Lake — the largest sphagnum bog in California.
Monday, June 8 – Local South Lake Tahoe Ride
25 miles | 1,400’ of climbing | One sustained ~1 mile climb
This in-town classic explores the city of South Lake Tahoe, including super quiet back roads near Fallen Leaf Lake, a short hearty climb, and more. The ride features bike paths, peaceful pavement sections, beautiful vistas, and a wonderful way to experience road riding in South Lake Tahoe.
This ride serves as a great recovery option for those riding America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride around the lake on Sunday, while also offering a rewarding sustained effort for riders looking for a shorter mileage day.
Both rides throughout this two-day experience offer meaningful opportunities to meet, learn together, and live out the shared missions of Chai Cycle and the Tahoe Jewish Community.
