As the new year approaches, we’re excited to share our High Holy Day Schedule 5786—filled with tradition, creativity, and community.
This season invites us to pause, reflect, and return to what matters most. In Tahoe, we do that together—with open hearts, open minds, and the beauty of the natural world around us.
A Unique Collaboration in the Tahoe Basin
Tahoe Jewish Community (TJC) is a collaborative expression of Jewish life across the Lake Tahoe Basin. It is made possible by the shared vision and partnership of two vibrant congregations: North Tahoe Hebrew Congregation (NTHC) in Tahoe Vista and Temple Bat Yam (TBY) in South Lake Tahoe.
Each congregation is a full and active synagogue with its own membership, beautiful building, religious school, and year-round Shabbat and holiday programming. Through TJC, we’ve built a shared structure that helps us bring our strengths together, support each other, and reach a wider community—including Truckee, Carson City, and nearby areas.
In addition, TJC welcomes not only those who identify as Jewish, but also those who are connected to Jewish life—partners, friends, family, visitors, and seekers—into a community that values both tradition and inclusion.
What to Expect This High Holy Day Season
Our High Holy Day Schedule 5786 reflects the best of what this collaboration offers. You’ll find many familiar and comforting elements—returning to our sanctuary spaces, hearing beloved melodies, gathering in community.
Not only that, you’ll also discover new and creative ways to engage with the meaning of these days. Through reflection, learning, nature-based experiences, and inclusive prayer, we warmly invite you to wrestle with the themes of teshuvah (return), renewal, and transformation in ways that feel personal and powerful.
Our Reform Jewish approach embraces both tradition and autonomy. At the same time, we believe each person can find meaningful connection through knowledge, reflection, and choice. That’s why all our services, programs, and events are open to anyone who wishes to engage respectfully and with curiosity.
